Kanab's Newest Celebrations
Balloons & Tunes, Rocktoberfest & Treasure Quest
Kanab has so many reasons to stay around a little longer; one of which is the moderate climate that makes visiting Kanab enjoyable year-round.
While February, March, October and November can be cold in nearby areas, it is typically quite comfortable and beautiful in Kanab, and folks are realizing it’s a great time to come and explore the area. The trails are less crowded and there are no bugs or snakes interfering with your adventures.
There are also three fun events in this charming small town: Kanab Balloons & Tunes Roundup, Red Rocktobertfest, and new this year – Kanab’s Treasure Quest.
Kanab Balloons & Tunes Roundup made its debut in 2015, with 20 hot air balloons and a dozen bands. 2016 was even bigger, when 37 hot air balloons came to Kanab.
Although rain and wind grounded the balloons in 2017, the fourth annual Balloons & Tunes in 2018 was a big hit. Forty seven balloons dotted the skies above Kanab, as sunny and calm conditions on Saturday made for a perfect launch.
Pilots and their balloons come from all over the country. Hot air balloons take off each morning from the former Coral Cliffs Golf Course (weather permitting), and then the activities continue on North Main Street at the Street Fair as the Battle of the Bands takes place. Twelve bands battle for cash prizes!
Hot air balloons line the street on Saturday evening for the parade-like Balloon Glow. The balloons inflate and stay on the ground and light up against the night sky for spectators to walk among and enjoy the balloons up close and personal.

The fifth annual Balloons and Tunes Roundup will be February 15-17, 2019.
The first Red Rocktoberfest was held in October of 2015. The next two years the celebration grew, making the event even better.
This year’s celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 20. This event features art, live music, delicious German food, and something new to Kanab ... a beer garden!
The celebration runs from Glazier’s Family Market on the south end of town to The Canyons Lodge on the north end. A delicious German feast is offered at Sego Restaurant.
Who knows what Kane County will come up with next? Well, I gave a hint earlier when I mentioned Kanab’s Treasure Quest. It will be held for the first time this year, November 2-4, 2018.
It is billed as Montezuma’s Revenge, as over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be at stake!
Teams of three to five people will use a phone app to complete challenges and gain points for the chance to win over $10,000 in cash and prizes. The top three teams will go into a sudden death round to compete in Montezuma’s Revenge for the Grand Prize!
This event is a mix of a Treasure Hunt, Amazing Race and Scavenger Hunt! It’s a perfect mix of clues, trivia and challenges that allow you to solve puzzles, complete tasks and earn points!
All you need is a smart phone and our specially designed app to lead you through this game!
